Watercolor Art Class This summer, learn to express yourself while painting landscapes in watercolor. Come out to beautiful Kayenta, just west of St. George, for a four week class designed to increase your knowledge of watercolor techniques. This is a wonderful opportunity to discover your potential and artistic ability. Landscape Class (day) - Cost $80.00 per person (Adults, 16 years and up). Instructor: Russell Black When: Tuesdays, July 29nd thru August 19th, 9:00 am to 11:00 am (8 hours of instruction). Where: Blue Raven Art Studio, Kayenta (next to the coffee shop). Schedule: Week 1 - Making Watercolor Behave - techniques for brush control and color mixing. Week 2 - Wash and Shape - 3 step painting process using washes and designed shapes. Week 3 - Darks First - reverse painting process by establishing your value range first. Week 4 - Wet Painting - techniques for painting wet-into-wet (damp). Materials are not included. A materials list is available by email. Registration due by July 26th, minimum 3 students to run the class.

Classes are open to anyone who is interested in painting. Included are people who have never held a brush in their hand, to professional gallery artists and everyone in between. Acrylic is the featured medium, but oil and watercolor painters study with us as well. The emphasis will be on creating harmony on the picture plane through composition, value and color relationships. Students will be encouraged to respond directly to the forms and colors on the canvas. There will be demonstrations, personal attention and gentle critiques. It will be a fun and learning environment for all.

Blue Raven Studio Watercolor or Sketching Classes This fall, learn to express yourself while sketching or painting in watercolor. This is a wonderful opportunity to discover your potential and artistic ability. Russell Black, a professional artist and teacher, is returning to Blue Raven by popular request. Watercolor Class (weekly) - Cost $80.00 per person (Adults, 16 years and up). Tuesdays, October 7 thru October 28th, 9:30 am to 11:30 am. Materials are not included. Schedule: Week 1 - Watercolor techniques. Week 2 - Wet and damp "out of focus" washes. Week 3 - Brush line calligraphy. Week 4 - Wash and brush line painting. Watercolor Workshop (1 day) - Cost $40.00 per person (Adults, 16 years and up). Saturday, October 18th, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Reservations due by Thursday, Oct 16^th. Materials are not included. Sketching Class (weekly) - Cost $80.00 per person (Adults, 16 years and up) Thursdays, October 2nd thru October 23rd, 9:30 am to 11:30 am. Materials are not included.
