ABOUT US:
Blue Raven Art Studio is a working and teaching studio for artists of all abilities in two-dimensional media interests.

EVERYONE AN ARTIST

BLUE RAVEN ART STUDIO is a welcoming place for painting enthusiasts. We encourage artists of all skill abilities to enjoy the creative process in their chosen media. Resident artists and student guests support each other in exploring techniques and subject matter. Exchanging ideas among like-minded art friends promotes learning from each other.

Developing a personal visual voice in an atmosphere of acceptance for beginners and challenge for the experienced artist is our goal. Instructors offer suggestions and technical information in a kind manner, avoiding quality judgments to maximize each student’s opportunity to grow at their own rate.

Come to a class!

Have fun, learn to use art materials and techniques, build your confidence.

Exhibit your finished art. Grow in your personal approach to art by expressing your human need to create. We believe there are no wrong ways to make art; there is only YOUR way! We are your cheerleaders.

As a working art studio, Blue Raven has 7 permanent spaces available for beginner to advanced artists to rent on a monthly basis. We rarely have more than one station open.

A rental space connotes an approx 5'X6' floor space and the adjoining wall space with 24/7 access to the studio.

The open space in the studio is used to teach classes / workshops.

Kathy Heiner bio

I have always loved the creative process. I sometimes feel like a kid in a candy store when I see fun and wonderful artwork. I want to try it all.

I am self-taught and have explored handcrafts of all kinds: designing tee-shirts and tote bags, sewing doll clothes, tole painting, slab clay construction, bead-work jewelry and painting on glass, which I began about eight years ago. Now my hand-painted, themed stemware, cups and other glass items are available in galleries and gift shops. I also do commission work on wine glasses and coffee cups in seasonal designs, animal motifs and southwest subject matter.

I began painting acrylics on canvas five years ago, designing with the shamans, horses and cowboy images from my glass-painting themes. I’ve since expanded my subject matter to landscapes from the southwest and the aspen woods near my family’s cabin. I continually study art books, painting videos and participate in workshops to learn what would have been available to me in art school, if I had had such an opportunity as a busy mom. I have so much to learn from many wonderful artists.

Being co-owner—the initiating partner—and acrylic instructor at Blue Raven Art Studio gives me a full-time place to paint, away from my glass-painting studio at home. Sharing painting experiences with like-minded artists in Coyote Gulch is fun. Now I get to help other painting enthusiasts enjoy acrylic experiences they’ve always wanted to try.
